The transaction, which valued the Los Angeles Lakers at $10 billion, marked the highest control-sale in the history of U.S. team sports, surpassing previous records set by the Boston Celtics ($6.1 billion) earlier in 2025 and the Washington Commanders ($6.05 billion) in 2023.
