"Noveria Energy and VPI have formed a joint venture to develop over 700MW of utility-scale battery storage projects in Germany, supported by Bluestar Energy Capital. A&O Shearman advised Bluestar Energy Capital in connection with the joint venture agreement and the establishment of the joint venture entity between Noveria Energy, a Germany-headquartered project developer and portfolio company of Bluestar Energy Capital, and VPI, a leading power company backed by Vitol. The transaction involves the creation of a joint venture to develop over 700MW of utility-scale battery storage in Germany. The pipeline includes five battery projects located in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Brandenburg, with power capacities ranging from 60MW to 300MW. These projects are among the largest battery storage systems in Germany and are expected to be operational by the end of the decade, with the first project targeted for completion in 2027.
