International law firm Clifford Chance advised the underwriters in connection with the €50 million capital increase of ONWARD Medical NV, conducted through a private placement with institutional investors involving 11.3 million new ordinary shares. UBS and Stifel acted as joint global coordinators, and, together with Bank Degroof Petercam SA/NV, as joint bookrunners. The transaction represents the largest primary fundraising in MedTech in Europe this year. ONWARD Medical, a leading neurotechnology company, develops therapies aimed at restoring mobility, functions, and autonomy for individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and other motor disabilities. The net proceeds from the private placement, combined with existing cash reserves, will be used to fund development initiatives, expand commercial and operational activities, support and strengthen quality and administrative functions, finance working capital needs, and cover financing costs. The Clifford Chance team was led by Olivier Plessis and Han Teerink, with support from Maks Mencin in Frankfurt, Marina Sarkisjan and Robert Bulte in Amsterdam, and Johannes Juette in London.
