"Clifford Chance Advises on €318 Million Financing for Lithuania's Largest Wind Farm"

"Clifford Chance, a global law firm, advised lenders including Nordic Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, and Swedbank on a EUR 318 million financing deal for the construction and operation of the Kelme Wind Farm in Lithuania. Sponsored by Ignitis Group, the project is the largest wind energy initiative in the Baltic region, with a capacity of 314 MW, capable of powering approximately 250,000 Lithuanian households. Various teams from Clifford Chance provided legal expertise on English, German, and French law aspects of the transaction."

Clifford Chance advised the lenders, including Nordic Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, and Swedbank, in connection with the financing of the Kelme Wind Farm project in Lithuania. Ignitis Group acted as the sponsor in the project. The transaction involved a project finance term loan of up to EUR 318 million for the construction and operation of the Kelme Wind Farm, which is the largest wind energy project in the Baltic region. The wind farm has a capacity of 314 MW and will generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 250,000 Lithuanian households. The Clifford Chance team advising on English law aspects of the transaction was led by Mateusz Chruściak (Counsel) under the supervision of Irena Floras-Goode (Partner). The team also included Joanna Korycińska (Associate), Mateusz Leleno (Associate), and Maciej Kujawa (Associate). The team advising the European Investment Bank (EIB) included Andrzej Stosio (Partner) and Agnieszka Kozikowska (Senior Associate).
