This package aims to enhance the country's energy infrastructure through the development of battery energy storage systems (BESS). In a recent transaction involving the financing of three significant energy projects in Bulgaria, the law firms CMS Sofia and DSK Bank provided legal assistance. CMS Sofia advised on the legal due diligence, structuring, negotiation of financing documentation, and project agreements, while DSK Bank's team focused on the energy and structured financing aspects. The financing package encompasses Project Brusartsi, which includes a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 375.65 MWh and approximately EUR 68 million in development and VAT financing; Project Byala Slatina, featuring a BESS of 120.74 MWh with around EUR 23 million in development and VAT financing; and Project Zlatitsa, which has a BESS of 389.10 MWh and approximately EUR 69 million in development and VAT financing. This initiative marks a significant advancement in the energy infrastructure of the country. The CMS Sofia team comprised Antonia Kehayova, Anna Philcheva, Dimitar Zwiatkow, Konstantin Altandzhiyski, and Ivan Gergov. The DSK Bank team included Ivo Kolarov, who serves as Head of Energy and Structured Financing, along with Senior RES Project Managers Mihail Sarnev and Vasil Bachvarov.
