Linklaters Paris has advised Renner Energies, a BlackRock portfolio company, in a long-term virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Google concerning energy generated by a portfolio of greenfield onshore wind farms currently under development in Belgium. The VPPA is expected to enable Google to reduce its emissions by approximately 27,000 tons of CO₂ per year, totaling around 410,000 tons over the duration of the contract, which is equivalent to the annual emissions from 17,000 households. This agreement underscores the commitment of both companies to accelerate the energy transition and minimize their carbon footprint. The Linklaters team involved in this transaction included Samuel Bordeleau, partner, and Farah Guedouar, associate, both from the Energy & Infrastructure practice area. Additionally, the Brussels office contributed to the transaction with associates Melissa Verplancke and Laure Driessen.
