Court Dismisses Antitrust Lawsuits Against Louis Dreyfus Company in Sugar Price Fixing Case

"On October 15, 2025, the U.S. District Court for Minnesota dismissed over fifty antitrust lawsuits against Louis Dreyfus Company LLC (LDC) that alleged a conspiracy to fix sugar prices. On October 15, 2025, the law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP represented Louis Dreyfus Company LLC (“LDC”) in a significant legal matter involving antitrust litigation. The United States District Court for the District of Minnesota granted LDC’s motion to dismiss over fifty lawsuits in a consolidated antitrust case that alleged a nationwide conspiracy to fix sugar prices. The plaintiffs, which included Direct Purchasers, Commercial Indirect Purchasers, and Consumer Indirect Purchasers of granulated sugar, accused LDC and other large producers of conspiring to artificially inflate sugar prices by sharing sensitive pricing information. However, the Court found that the plaintiffs failed to provide plausible allegations of coordinated activity involving LDC, leading to the dismissal of all claims against the company. The Cravath team involved in this case was led by partners Timothy G. Cameron and Michael P. Addis, with support from associates Scott B. Cohen and Jacob B. Seeley. Additionally, Paul Feingold, Henry Merschat, and Ruby Vesey contributed to the matter.
