"Green Horse Legal Advisory has assisted wpd europe GmbH in securing financing from DZ BANK AG for the construction of the Licata Wind Farm in Sicily, which will have a capacity of approximately 30 MW and is expected to start operations in 2026. This project marks wpd's first large-scale initiative in Italy, contributing to the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in Europe. The legal teams from Green Horse and Simmons & Simmons played key roles in structuring and negotiating the financing. Notarial aspects were handled by Notary Marco Farina in Milan."

Green Horse Legal Advisory and Simmons & Simmons participated in the transaction, assisting wpd europe GmbH and DZ BANK AG Deutsche Zentral-Genossenschaftsbank, respectively. The transaction involved the financing for the construction of the Licata Wind Farm in Sicily, which will have a production capacity of approximately 30 MW and is supported by a virtual Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) set to commence in 2026. This marks wpd's first large-scale initiative in Italy, contributing to the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in Europe. Green Horse Legal Advisory provided support throughout all phases of the financing structuring and negotiation, with a team consisting of Andrea Gentili, Daniele Sani, and Olga Capacchione. Simmons & Simmons acted as lender’s legal counsel for DZ BANK, with a team that included partner Tommaso Tomaiuolo, counsel Federico Perego, supervising associates Gianluca De Donno and Andrea Pototschnig, and trainee Sabina Elia.
