Clifford Chance advises on US$100 million financing for River Plate stadium expansion in Argentina

"Clifford Chance advised Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) and Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest) as lenders on a US$100 million financing for Club Atlético River Plate to expand and upgrade the Más Monumental stadium, fund a roof and related works, and support the River Plate Institute school and Casa River; revenues will be tied to education, scholarships, women’s sports and community infrastructure."

Clifford Chance advised Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) and Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest) as lenders on a US$100 million financing for Club Atlético River Plate. The financing will support expansion and upgrades to the Más Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires, increasing spectator capacity to approximately 100,000–101,000, improving acoustics and extending the facility’s lifespan. It will also fund construction of a roof structure intended to improve the fan experience and reduce noise emissions for the surrounding neighbourhood. In addition, the transaction will finance the expansion of the River Plate Institute school building and Casa River, the club’s youth residence and development centre. Contractual provisions link revenues generated by the stadium expansion to education, scholarships, women’s sports and community infrastructure; River Plate will allocate at least 25% of those revenues to additional scholarships and to the development of further sports and social infrastructure.
