AirTrunk Secures $2.325 Billion Green Financing to Support JHB2 Hyperscale Campus in Malaysia

"Simpson Thacher & Bartlett advised AirTrunk on a $2.325 billion (RM9.5 billion) green financing to fund development of its JHB2 hyperscale data center campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Raised under AirTrunk’s Green Financing Framework with participation from the IFC, the deal is Malaysia’s largest green project finance for a single data center and AirTrunk’s largest single-asset financing."

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett advised AirTrunk in connection with its $2.325 billion (RM9.5 billion) green financing to support the sustainable development of its JHB2 hyperscale data center campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The financing was raised under AirTrunk’s Green Financing Framework and represents the largest green project finance transaction for a single data center in Malaysia as well as AirTrunk’s largest single-asset financing to date. The transaction marks AirTrunk’s first financing from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, and will support the continued development of JHB2, which is designed to achieve industry-leading energy and water efficiency. Margin savings generated through the transaction will continue to support AirTrunk’s social impact programs in Malaysia.
