ArentFox Schiff Represents New York City FC and CFG Stadium Group in Stadium License Enabling Gotham FC Move to Etihad Park

"ArentFox Schiff served as outside counsel to New York City FC and CFG Stadium Group, LLC in a stadium license with NWSL champion Gotham FC that enables the club’s relocation to Etihad Park in Queens beginning with the 2028 NWSL season. Etihad Park is a 25,000-seat, soccer-specific stadium due to open for the 2027–28 MLS season and will be New York City's first soccer-specific, fully electric MLS stadium."

ArentFox Schiff acted as outside counsel to New York City FC and CFG Stadium Group, LLC in a stadium license transaction with the National Women’s Soccer League’s two-time and reigning champion Gotham FC. The transaction provides for Gotham FC’s relocation to Etihad Park in Queens, New York, beginning with the 2028 NWSL season. Etihad Park is a 25,000-seat, soccer-specific stadium currently under construction in the Willets Point neighborhood of Queens and is anticipated to open for the 2027–28 Major League Soccer season. Once complete, Etihad Park will be New York City’s first soccer-specific stadium and the first fully electric MLS stadium in the United States. New York City FC has described the agreement as reflecting the club’s and its majority owner City Football Group’s continued commitment to investing in New York City and advancing the growth of soccer across the five boroughs. In addition to this stadium license, ArentFox Schiff represents New York City FC and CFG Stadium Group, LLC on a range of commercial and operational matters related to the club and Etihad Park, including naming rights and sponsorship (including kit agreements), suite and premium seating, food and beverage, ticketing, and merchandising.
