Aberdeen Investments and Rock Rail Reach £800 Million First Close

The close is led by StepStone and Partners Group and will fund Rock Rail’s fleet delivery to improve capacity, passenger experience and decarbonisation."

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett advised Aberdeen Investments and Rock Rail in connection with the formation and first close of a new investment platform of approximately £800 million. The first close assembled a diversified syndicate of global institutional and secondary investors led by StepStone and Partners Group as co‑lead investors, alongside a significant commitment from the platform’s sponsors, Aberdeen Investments and Rock Rail. The platform will fund delivery of Rock Rail’s current rolling stock fleet and finance new, more efficient trains to replace ageing fleets, with the aims of improving passenger experience, increasing capacity and supporting decarbonisation of the UK rail network.
