ADVANT Beiten advises Ningbo Cixing on acquisition of selected STOLL assets from KARL MAYER

"ADVANT Beiten advised Ningbo Cixing Co. Ltd. (CIXING Group) on the acquisition of selected assets of the former STOLL business unit from the KARL MAYER Group. The deal transfers the STOLL brand, selected materials and inventories and certain technological assets to CIXING, subject to customary closing conditions, and aims to revitalise STOLL operations in Europe and China."

The international law firm ADVANT Beiten advised Ningbo Cixing Co. Ltd. (CIXING Group) on the acquisition of selected assets of the former STOLL business unit from the KARL MAYER Group. The transaction arises from KARL MAYER’s strategic refocus on Warp Knitting, Warp Preparation and Technical Textiles, announced in early 2025, which led to the discontinuation of the flat knitting machine business operating under the STOLL brand and the closure of the Reutlingen production site in October 2025. The agreement provides for the transfer of selected assets to the CIXING Group, in particular the STOLL brand, selected materials and inventories, and certain technological assets. Completion remains subject to customary closing conditions. STOLL, with over a century of innovation and German engineering, is used beyond fashion in industrial applications including car seat covers, medical bandages, high-performance uppers for sports shoes and 3D fiber composites for aerospace. Around 130,000 modern STOLL flat knitting machines are currently in use worldwide. CIXING, an industry leader with approximately EUR 290 million in annual revenue, brings strong industrial manufacturing capabilities, a robust supply chain and an extensive sales network. The acquisition is intended to leverage CIXING’s resources to drive growth for STOLL, revitalise operations in Europe and China, restore customer access to competitive knitting solutions and significantly affect the global supply chain for knitting machines and high-quality textiles. ADVANT Beiten represented CIXING Group with a team composed by: Dr Barbara Mayer (Freiburg), Christian Burmeister (Berlin and Freiburg, both lead), Dr Christian von Wistinghausen (Berlin), Damien Heinrich (Freiburg), Susanne Rademacher and Lelu Li (both Beijing, Corporate/M&A), and Heiko Wunderlich (Tax, Munich).
