The transaction provides up to £120m of debt from NatWest and BCI Capital, with NatWest’s funding backed by a British Business Bank ENABLE Guarantee, and features a dynamic loan margin tied to sustainability KPIs. Those KPIs include expanding on-farm renewable energy and adopting sustainable land, water and environmental management practices, aligning the facility with the UK Government’s Sustainable Farming Initiative to help farmers transition to greener practices. Addleshaw Goddard advised NatWest on a landmark sustainability-linked financing arranged for Rural Asset Finance and involving BCI Capital and the British Business Bank. The transaction provides approximately up to £120 million of debt funding from NatWest alongside BCI Capital, with NatWest’s funding supported by a British Business Bank guarantee under its ENABLE Guarantee programme. It features a dynamic loan margin tied to sustainability KPIs — including expansion of renewable energy on farms and adoption of sustainable land, water and environmental management practices — aligns with the UK Government’s Sustainable Farming Initiative, and was named Sustainability-Linked Loan of the Year (Other) at the Environmental Finance Sustainable Debt Awards 2026.
