Baker McKenzie Advises Joint Lead Managers on Mauritius Commercial Bank’s USD 400M GMTN Bond Issuance

"Baker McKenzie advised the joint lead managers (Citigroup Global Markets, J.P. Morgan Securities, Mizuho International, Société Générale and Standard Chartered) on Mauritius Commercial Bank’s USD 400 million international bond issuance, its second under the GMTN programme and listed on the London Stock Exchange. The issue, priced 180 basis points inside MCB’s 2023 inaugural deal, was larger than the prior issuance; Baker McKenzie also assisted with updating the GMTN programme. The deal team was led by Partner James Tanner (with Senior Associate Maxim Khrapov); Partners Sarah Porter and Ben Bierwirth and associates advised the trustee and cornerstone investors (FMO and Proparco), respectively. Baker McKenzie highlighted strong investor demand and the transaction’s support for MCB’s international funding strategy."

The transaction was a USD 400 million international bond issuance by Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB), its second issuance under its Global Medium Term Note (GMTN) Programme listed on the London Stock Exchange; the bond was priced 180 basis points inside MCB’s 2023 inaugural issuance and was larger in size, and Baker McKenzie also advised on an update of the GMTN Programme prior to the issuance.
