Gleiss Lutz Advises TRUMPF on Sale of Photonic Components Business Unit

"Gleiss Lutz advised TRUMPF SE + Co. KG on the partial sale of its Photonic Components business unit. Most assets in Ulm and Eindhoven, including a large part of VCSEL production, were acquired by a U.S. buyer; other activities were sold to an acquirer in Taiwan and another U.S. purchaser. Gleiss Lutz advised TRUMPF SE + Co. KG on the sale of its Photonic Components business unit. The transaction was carried out by way of several partial disposals. Most of the assets located in Ulm and in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, including a large part of the VCSEL production, were acquired by a U.S. buyer. Other business activities within the Photonic Components division were transferred to an acquirer in Taiwan and to another U.S. purchaser. TRUMPF, headquartered in Ditzingen, Germany, is a leading global provider of machine tools, lasers and electronics for industrial applications. In the 2024/25 financial year the Group reported sales of EUR 4.3 billion and employed around 18,000 people. With the sale, TRUMPF is pursuing its strategy of concentrating more strongly on its core industrial business. TRUMPF in-house legal department represented TRUMPF SE + Co.
