Arendt & Medernach Advises Lenders on Luxembourg Law Aspects of Webasto Group €1.4bn Financial Restructuring
"Arendt & Medernach acted as Luxembourg counsel to the core banks (coordinated by Bayerische Landesbank and UniCredit) and the European Investment Bank on the Luxembourg law aspects of a cross‑border financial restructuring of the Webasto Group. The deal extended maturities on existing, partly state‑guaranteed loans of about €1.2 billion, provided a €200 million new‑money credit line in exchange for a comprehensive security package, and established a dual‑purpose trust over the shares in Webasto SE with Dr Christoph Morgen and Dr Jan Markus Plath appointed as trustees. Promissory note holders also agreed to maturity extensions and Webasto customers committed required contributions. Webasto is a global German automotive supplier; the Arendt team included Dominik Pauly, Milos Vulevic, Javier Ruiz (Restructuring, Finance & Capital Markets) and Alain Goebel (Tax)."
