Addleshaw Goddard advises CMAL on contract with Guangzhou Shipyard for two new Northern Isles freight flex ferries

"Addleshaw Goddard advised Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) on the award of a contract to Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) to build two 140m Northern Isles "freight flex" ferries for the Serco NorthLink Ferries service. The vessels, chosen from four finalists, will boost freight capacity, shorten crossings and can accommodate up to 200 passengers at peak times. CMAL highlighted GSI’s innovation, workforce policies and environmental and safety standards; the ADG team was led by partner Ed Watt."

Addleshaw Goddard advised Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) on the transaction. CMAL awarded a contract to Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) for two 140 m Northern Isles freight flex ferries to operate on the Serco NorthLink Ferries service; the vessels will increase freight capacity, enable quicker crossings and can accommodate up to 200 passengers at peak times. Four shipyards reached the final round of bidding and GSI was selected by a panel of third‑party specialists and CMAL experts.
