Arthur J. Gallagher acquires Bremen-based KROSE to strengthen commercial insurance and reinsurance presence in Germany

"A&O Shearman has advised US-listed insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. on its acquisition of Bremen-based KROSE GmbH & Co. KG. Founded in 1920, KROSE provides international commercial insurance and reinsurance solutions for large corporates; deal terms were not disclosed. Current KROSE leaders Dr. Oliver Cullmann, Leopold Muhle and Urs Gottwald will remain as Managing Directors and Dr. Andreas Keller will join the management team. The acquisition strengthens Gallagher’s German and continental European capabilities alongside its existing reinsurance team in Munich and its 2024 purchase of Köberich Financial Lines. A&O Shearman’s Düsseldorf-led deal team was headed by Dr. Jan Schröder and Dr. Achim Schmid, supported by Dr. Saber Baratzadeh, Robin Petschenka and specialists across tax, IP/IT, compliance, employment, real estate, data protection, public law and antitrust."

A&O Shearman advised the buyer, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (Gallagher), in its acquisition of KROSE GmbH & Co. KG. Gallagher acquired KROSE, a Bremen-based insurance broker founded in 1920 that provides international commercial insurance and reinsurance solutions and specialises in designing and placing complex programmes for large international clients; the management team will continue in place and Dr. Andreas Keller will join as a Managing Director. Terms were not disclosed.
