Clifford Chance advises lenders on financing construction of CCGT power plant in Kozienice

"Clifford Chance advised a consortium of banks (Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Powszechna Kasa Oszczędności Bank Polski S.A. and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki S.A.) on a near PLN 6.5 billion loan to Enea Elkogaz for the construction of two CCGT units (total 1,336 MW) at the Kozienice power plant. The loan is guaranteed by KUKE under a climate mitigation support programme."

Clifford Chance advised the consortium of banks — Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Powszechna Kasa Oszczędności Bank Polski S.A. and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki S.A. — in connection with the conclusion of a loan agreement providing financing to Enea Elkogaz. The loan, amounting to nearly PLN 6.5 billion, was granted to Enea Elkogaz for the construction of two modern combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) units with a total capacity of 1,336 MW at the Kozienice power plant. The facility is guaranteed by the Polish Export Credit Agency (KUKE) under a programme supporting investments that have a significant impact on climate change mitigation. The transaction is the largest project finance deal in the history of the Polish conventional energy sector. Clifford Chance represented the consortium of banks (Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Powszechna Kasa Oszczędności Bank Polski S.A. and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki S.A.) with a team composed by: Piotr Węcławowicz (Senior Associate), who led the financing work under the supervision of Irena Floras-Goode (Partner); and team members Mateusz Leleno (Associate) and Julia Rychlińska (Associate).
