The commercial law firm Seitz advised Gothaer and Barmenia on employment and labor law matters in connection with their merger. The merger of Gothaer and Barmenia is described as the groundbreaking first merger of two insurance companies and one of the most complex merger projects of 2023 and 2024. The combined entity, Barmenia.Gothaer, will be one of the ten largest insurance companies in Germany, with around 7,500 employees. Following the successful transaction, Seitz will continue to provide strategic and operational employment and labor law advice on the post‑merger integration. A primary focus of this ongoing mandate is developing the future structure of the group and managing the transformation process.
