White & Case Advises Revera Energy on Financing of 200MW/400MWh Windyhill Battery Energy Storage System

White & Case represented Revera Energy in connection with the senior project financing for the Windyhill Battery Energy Storage System; Santander provided the non‑recourse senior debt facility. The transaction comprises a non‑recourse senior debt financing provided by Santander for the construction of the 200MW / 400MWh Windyhill BESS, strategically located in Bearsden approximately 10 km north‑west of Glasgow and north of the B6 boundary, a significant UK transmission bottleneck. Revera issued a notice to proceed concurrently with financial close; construction has commenced immediately, and commercial operations are expected in Q1 2028. Windyhill is the first of three UK battery storage projects in Revera Energy's portfolio to reach financial close. Revera has a further 800MW / 1,600MWh of UK BESS projects planned, with construction expected to commence over the next 12 months. At 1,000MW, Revera's UK BESS portfolio will become one of the largest battery storage platforms in Europe, supporting the UK's 2030 Net Zero ambitions, enhancing grid resilience and helping to alleviate a key transmission constraint separating Scottish wind generation from electricity demand in England.
