DWF Advises Glennon Brothers on Acquisition of Pontrilas Group

"DWF advised Glennon Brothers on its acquisition of Pontrilas Group Limited and on the associated external financing. The deal brings together two family-owned timber businesses, expanding Glennon Brothers’ scale in timber processing and sustainable production in the UK."

DWF advised Glennon Brothers on its acquisition of Pontrilas Group Limited and on the associated external financing. The transaction sees Glennon Brothers, a third‑generation timber processing business, acquire Pontrilas Group, one of the UK’s leading independent sawmill and packaging businesses. Founded in 1947, Pontrilas operates the largest timber processing mill in England and Wales, employs more than 530 people and generates annual turnover in excess of £120 million. The acquisition represents a significant strategic expansion for Glennon Brothers, bringing together two family‑founded and family‑owned businesses with shared values and a long‑term commitment to sustainable timber production. DWF deployed a multi‑jurisdictional team spanning its Belfast, Dublin, Scottish and English offices to provide integrated M&A and financing advice on a complex, high‑value transaction that involved multiple jurisdictions and a broad range of legal disciplines. DWF represented Glennon Brothers with a team composed by: partners Alasdair Peacock (Corporate & Banking) and James Morrison (Corporate & Banking); senior associate Siobhan McKenna (Corporate & Banking); associate Ben Palmer (Corporate & Banking); solicitor Katrina Hall (Corporate & Banking); partner Caroline Colliston (Tax); senior associate Zita Dempsey (Tax); and partners Simon Elphick (Real Estate) and Guy Rusling (Real Estate).
