Axelera AI Secures Over $250 Million in Record European AI Semiconductor Investment

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe represented Axelera AI in connection with its most recent funding round. Axelera AI, a European semiconductor company developing advanced AI acceleration hardware for edge computing and data centre applications, raised more than $250 million in the financing. The investment is reported as the largest ever made in an EU AI semiconductor company and will support the company’s commercial expansion. The new capital will enable Axelera AI to scale its manufacturing operations, expand its customer success and partner networks, and further develop its software tools and software development kit. As data centres approach power and cooling limits, Axelera AI’s Edge AI architecture has been designed to address these constraints, making large-scale AI deployment more economically viable for real-world applications while ensuring data protection and privacy.
