Michael A. Boldt Joins Greenberg Traurig in Austin as Shareholder in Energy & Natural Resources Practice
"Michael A. Boldt has joined Greenberg Traurig in Austin as a shareholder in the Energy & Natural Resources practice, focusing on electricity regulation and ERCOT-related matters."
Boldt is a nationally recognized electricity regulatory lawyer with deep Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) experience. His practice spans the full spectrum of electricity law, including regulatory work, high-stakes litigation, and transactional matters such as power supply agreements, large load interconnections, and behind-the-meter arrangements. He represents investor-owned utilities, large industrial loads, data centers, power generation companies, tax equity investors, and electric cooperatives in ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SPP, and before state regulatory commissions.
Boldt joins Greenberg Traurig from Eversheds Sutherland, where he served as partner in charge of the Austin office and as head of its State Energy Regulatory Group. As special counsel to Brazos Electric Power Cooperative in its adversary proceeding against ERCOT after the 2021 Winter Storm Uri, he secured roughly a $700 million reduction to ERCOT’s $2.1 billion claim and led the litigation strategy, including cross-examining ERCOT leadership at trial.
Boldt is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Texas Christian University.
