Greenberg Traurig Strengthens Miami Team with Jay Yagoda and Melissa Groisman

Jay Yagoda rejoins Greenberg Traurig as a shareholder in the firm’s Miami Appeals & Legal Issues and Litigation practices, where he will focus on appellate matters and litigation support in state and federal courts nationwide. He most recently served in the Appellate Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, where he worked as a line assistant U.S. attorney and later as acting deputy chief. Yagoda previously clerked for the Florida Supreme Court and spent nearly a decade at Greenberg Traurig over two prior stints, serving as an appellate associate in Miami from 2012–2016, returning as of counsel in 2018 and becoming a shareholder in 2020 before leaving in 2023 for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He holds a J.D. and a B.A. from the University of Florida.
Melissa Groisman joins Greenberg Traurig as of counsel in the Miami Real Estate Practice. She was previously a partner at Greenspoon Marder. With nearly two decades of experience, Groisman represents institutional investors, real estate investment trusts, private investment groups, developers, and lenders in complex commercial real estate transactions, including large-scale acquisitions, dispositions, agency and construction financings, refinancings, and coordinated multi-property deals across a range of asset classes. Her work has included guiding a multifamily developer through the simultaneous acquisition of three multifamily communities for $82 million and serving as local counsel for a New York-based private equity group in a $102 million acquisition of a 404-unit apartment complex. Groisman earned her J.D. from the University of Miami, her B.A. from Duke University, and a master’s degree in information systems management from Carnegie Mellon University.
