Fishman Haygood Adds Partner Ian Atkinson to Litigation Practice

Ian Atkinson has joined Fishman Haygood LLP as a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice.

Ian is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer whose practice spans commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense, and tax litigation. He represents clients at every stage of litigation, bringing significant courtroom experience and strategic judgment to complex disputes.

In his civil practice, Ian represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of commercial matters, including cases involving alleged financial misconduct, fiduciary duties, and other high-stakes business disputes.

Ian maintains an active white-collar criminal defense practice, advising clients on investigations and enforcement actions involving health care fraud, tax matters, money laundering, and wire and mail fraud allegations. He also represents professionals and students in disciplinary and misconduct proceedings.

In his tax practice, Ian represents the Louisiana Department of Revenue in litigation to recover corporate income, franchise, and sales taxes from some of the state’s largest taxpayers. He also assists clients with compliance concerns, federal tax deficiencies, civil audits, criminal investigations, and IRS litigation.

Prior to joining Fishman Haygood, Ian was a partner at Schonekas, Evans, McGoey & McEachin. He holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, a J.D., Order of the Coif, from the University of Virginia School of Law, and a B.A. from Tulane University.
