Freshfields Hires Former Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum to Lead State AG Practice

Rosenblum enters Freshfields with more than 12 years’ service as Oregon Attorney General, the first woman elected to that office in the state. During her tenure she led and participated in hundreds of state and national policy initiatives, investigations and lawsuits across consumer protection, fraud, privacy, financial regulation, antitrust, civil rights, environmental protection, public records and criminal justice reform. Her work produced record-breaking financial settlements and helped shape policies and best practices to safeguard the public. In her final year in office she served as President of the National Association of Attorneys General and in 2024 received that organization’s Attorney General of the Year award.
Prior to her service as Oregon Attorney General, Rosenblum worked in private practice as an associate and partner, served as an Assistant United States Attorney, and was a judge on the Oregon Court of Appeals and on the Multnomah County District and Circuit Courts. She has been active in the American Bar Association—serving as Secretary of the Association, Chair of the Section of State, Local and Tribal Government Law, and is a delegate-at-large to its House of Delegates—and is a member of the American Law Institute, a past president of the Owen M. Panner American Inn of Court, and a past chair of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation.
Freshfields’ State AG team advises clients facing investigations and regulatory scrutiny by state attorneys general; Rosenblum will lead that practice as senior counsel.
