Fieldfisher Portugal appoints Sónia Fernandes Martins as head of tax
"Fieldfisher Portugal has appointed Sónia Fernandes Martins as head of tax. She will join the firm's tax practice as a senior associate, focusing on tax litigation and strategic advisory."
She brings over 20 years of experience in tax litigation and strategic advisory and will join the firm as a senior associate. Her practice covers corporate income tax (IRC), VAT, stamp duty and procedural matters, where she has advised national and international clients with a technical and results-oriented approach.
Sónia Fernandes Martins has served as an arbitrator at CAAD – the Administrative Arbitration Center – and in recent years has held leadership roles at international law firms, coordinating teams dedicated to resolving tax disputes. Her work includes handling cases before national courts and at European institutions such as the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union, providing significant expertise in cross-border and EU-level litigation.
Fieldfisher Portugal’s co-managing partners André Miranda and João Antunes said the appointment is a strategic step to consolidate the firm’s tax practice and strengthen its capacity to address complex, high-impact matters; they added that Sónia’s experience will be decisive for the firm’s continued growth and its ability to deliver effective solutions.
