BCLP Adds Partner Justin Winerman to Financial Restructuring & Insolvency Practice in Chicago

Justin practiced for 17 years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and brings extensive experience advising on all aspects of complex corporate restructurings. He has counseled parties across a range of industries, including health care, financial services, airlines, energy and media. His work encompasses successful in‑court Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 cases as well as out‑of‑court restructurings. He joins BCLP as a Partner in the Financial Restructuring & Insolvency Practice, coming from Skadden, where he practiced for 17 years.
In addition to his transactional restructuring work, Justin maintains an active pro bono practice and was recognized by the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights with the 2023 Outstanding Pro Bono Works Volunteer award for his assistance to first‑time homebuyers, small business owners and nonprofits. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America for bankruptcy, insolvency and reorganization law and is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association.
Justin is the second Chicago‑based lateral to join BCLP this month, following the arrival of Katie Hausfeld to the Litigation & Investigations Practice.
