Maria Miguel Carvalho joins Sérvulo & Associados intellectual property, data protection and TMT team
"Maria Miguel Carvalho joins Sérvulo & Associados as an associate in its intellectual property, data protection and TMT team, working on privacy, cybersecurity and data-governance matters."
Carvalho has worked in the legal departments of Galp and EDP, focusing on project management and on matters related to privacy, cybersecurity, risk assessment and data governance. She practised at CMS Portugal between 2018 and 2021 and, most recently, was at Broseta Abogados in Madrid, where she advised on marketing campaigns with a particular focus on personal data protection, the negotiation of data processing agreements, compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the legal framework for projects based on artificial intelligence.
She holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University, an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Technology from Queen Mary University of London, and a postgraduate qualification in Data Protection from NOVA School of Law.
The partners of Sérvulo’s intellectual property, data protection and TMT department, Ana Ferreira Neves, Mariana Costa Pinto and Pedro Vidigal Monteiro, said that Maria’s career path and solid technical experience in privacy, cybersecurity and technology projects significantly strengthen the team’s ability to respond to increasingly demanding challenges in the sector.
