Ropes & Gray appoints Jacopo Figus Diaz as counsel in Milan to develop antitrust and golden power practice
"Ropes & Gray hires Jacopo Figus Diaz as counsel in Milan to build its antitrust and foreign investment (golden power) practice within the European platform."
Figus Diaz is admitted to practice in both Italy and the United States and joins Ropes & Gray from Legance. He brings experience advising Italian and international clients on restrictive practices, cooperation agreements, abuses of dominant position and merger-control proceedings before the European Commission and the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM). His profile also includes significant expertise in golden power, European and domestic litigation, consumer protection, antitrust compliance and foreign subsidies.
During a career spent between Brussels and Rome, and following a period at Cleary Gottlieb prior to joining Legance in 2022, Figus Diaz has handled complex transactions in strategic sectors such as manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, media and telecommunications, financial services, aerospace and automotive, assisting investors and industrial operators throughout the phases of M&A and investment transactions.
Ropes & Gray described the appointment as a further strengthening of the firm’s capabilities in merger control, restrictive practices and litigation and as a strategic asset for expanding the European platform and supporting clients across sectors. The hiring forms part of the Milan office’s expansion, which recently added Alessandro Capogrosso as a fourth Italian partner alongside Cataldo Piccarreta, Giorgia Lugli and Luca Maranetto.
