Addleshaw Goddard strengthens Abu Dhabi office with Construction, Transport and Energy partners

"Addleshaw Goddard strengthens its Abu Dhabi team: Partners Andrew Carter (transport & mobility) and Matthew Williams (power, projects & energy) have relocated to Abu Dhabi, and Richard Davies joins as Partner, Construction & Engineering."

Andrew Carter, Matthew Williams and Richard Davies have joined Addleshaw Goddard’s Abu Dhabi office, with Carter and Williams relocating into the Abu Dhabi team and Davies joining the firm from an international Abu Dhabi law firm.

Andrew Carter and Matthew Williams have relocated to Abu Dhabi from within Addleshaw Goddard. Andrew Carter joins the Abu Dhabi office as a Partner in the firm’s Commercial practice with a focus on transport and mobility. He advises public and private sector clients on complex transport, logistics and mobility projects, supporting initiatives to develop integrated and future-ready transport networks. Carter has been recognised in Legal 500 and Best Lawyers International for his work in the transportation sector and relocated to Abu Dhabi in December.

Matthew Williams joins as a Partner and Co-head of Power, Infrastructure Projects & Energy and relocated from the UK in early January. He brings extensive experience across the full lifecycle of energy and projects and sector-specific M&A, covering conventional power, renewables and energy transition mandates. Williams acts as the client relationship partner for several major energy market participants in Europe and the Middle East and has been recognised in the Legal 500 power sector ‘Hall of Fame’ for the last six years.

Richard Davies joins Addleshaw Goddard in Abu Dhabi as Partner, Construction & Engineering, arriving from an international Abu Dhabi law firm. He brings more than 15 years’ experience advising on complex construction and engineering projects across the UAE, including major transport and urban development mandates. Davies advises on transactions and disputes relating to major development, construction and engineering projects across sectors such as rail, air mobility, airports, urban development, district cooling and desalination. His practice covers both contentious and non-contentious matters, including arbitration and litigation in the ADGM and DIFC courts, acting for government entities, developers, operators, contractors and consultants.
