He served as deputy director general of Indirect Taxes from 2000 to 2004 and as director general of Taxes from 2004 to 2008. Earlier in his public service career he held various roles at the Valencia Tax Office between December 1984 and December 1992 and at the Valencia office of the State Tax Administration Agency between 1992 and 2000.
Bunes holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and regularly takes part in seminars, lectures and panels on tax law. He is an expert in indirect taxation, has authored multiple works on VAT and has published on general tax law and other taxes.
Manuel Broseta, president of Broseta, said the appointment represents a significant step forward in executing the firm’s strategic plan, particularly in tax law.
