David Martínez joins KPMG Abogados as partner and head of labour law in Catalonia

David Martínez has joined KPMG Abogados as a partner in its Employment Law practice and as head of the department in Catalonia.

Martínez brings more than twenty-three years of experience in labour and social security matters. He joins KPMG Abogados to strengthen the firm’s advisory services in those areas.

Martínez developed his career at Uría Menéndez, where since 2008 he has handled all types of cases with a particular emphasis on litigation. He has represented clients in both individual and collective disputes before all levels of the labour courts and is a specialist in negotiating complex matters, including collective bargaining, collective agreements, collective dismissals and all types of temporary layoff procedures (ERTEs).

He has over 15 years’ experience advising key players in the tourism sector—hotels, travel agencies, airline catering companies and airlines—and is also experienced in contracting and outsourcing matters (subcontracting, unlawful assignment of workers and business succession).

In academia, since 2018 Martínez has been an Associate Professor of Labour Law in the Law Degree programme at the Instituto de Empresa (IE Law School) in Madrid, and he teaches the immigration law module in the Master’s in European Union Law at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He holds a Law degree and a Master’s in Labor and Social Security Law from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a PhD in Law from the University of Valencia.
