Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer strengthens Banking & Finance with Leonardo Bafunno and Paolo Bossini
"Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer hires Leonardo Bafunno (senior associate) and Paolo Bossini (associate) into its Banking & Finance practice to bolster structured finance and securitisation capabilities."
Leonardo Bafunno joins Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer as a senior associate, arriving from Hogan Lovells. He has solid experience in structured finance transactions, with a focus on securitisations across multiple asset classes, financing transactions, sales of Italian UTP and NPL portfolios, and investments in UTP through closed-end alternative investment funds.
Paolo Bossini joins the firm as an associate from Legance. He advises clients on securitisations — including private, real estate and synthetic transactions — and on transactions involving commercial receivables.
Their appointments form part of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer’s targeted growth strategy in Italy to expand its transactional offering across commercial and financial law. The additions are intended to strengthen the practice’s ability to support financial institutions, investors and market operators in complex, often cross-border, transactions by integrating local specialist skills into a global platform.
The hires follow recent moves to bolster the Italian office, including the arrival of Emanuela Da Rin and her team and the appointment of Lorenzo Fusco as of counsel to establish and lead the new Employment practice in Italy.
