Nicolò Cusimano joins Bird & Bird as counsel in Tax department

Cusimano joins Bird & Bird as counsel with a focus on customs and international trade law. He is formerly of Padovan, where he coordinated the Customs Law & Supply Chain Management department. He has experience in international trade compliance, advising numerous economic and financial operators on export control, international economic sanctions, customs law and supply chain regulation. During his career he held roles of increasing responsibility at a leading international consulting firm and in 2020 was appointed Global Trade Control head for the Southern Europe companies of an American public company active in the aerospace sector. Cusimano is a member of the National Customs and Trade Facilitation Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce and in 2025 was named President of the Customs Commission at the Lombard Chamber of Tax Lawyers.
Lorenzo Di Rubbo joins the Tax department to assist Cusimano in the department’s advisory work.
Cusimano’s appointment is part of the ongoing development of Bird & Bird’s Tax department, strengthening its capacity in customs law and the broader trade and customs practice, an area of growing importance in the international geopolitical and regulatory context.
