Gianluca Faella joins Boies Schiller Flexner in Rome as partner

Gianluca Faella has joined Boies Schiller Flexner LLP’s Rome office as a partner.

Faella, who joins from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, will focus primarily on competition and regulation in Italy and the European Union, and on cross-border antitrust disputes involving the firm’s U.S. and U.K. practices. He will handle a broad range of matters including antitrust investigations and litigation, economic regulation, EU law and issues connected to foreign investment and subsidiaries in Italy and the EU.

He has established experience advising clients on antitrust, economic regulation, state aid and foreign subsidies, golden power, unfair commercial practices, intellectual property, EU law and complex commercial disputes. Faella has acted for Italian and international clients in high-value litigation before civil and administrative courts, the courts of the European Union and arbitral tribunals, and in administrative proceedings before the European Commission and national antitrust and regulatory authorities. He is authorised to plead before higher jurisdictions and has significant experience before the Corte di Cassazione, the Consiglio di Stato and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

His practice has covered a wide range of highly regulated sectors, including electronic communications, media, postal services, energy, pharmaceuticals, transport, banking, insurance and food. In addition to litigation, he provides strategic, business-oriented advice to support clients in legal risk management, policy development and commercial agreements. Faella is also an associate professor of law of the economy at Link University in Rome, where he teaches antitrust, regulation and intellectual property, and a contract professor of Law and Economics at LUISS Guido Carli.
