Sandra Chicoma has been appointed Partner in the Aviation practice at CMS Grau.

Sandra Chicoma is promoted to the seniority of Partner after more than 20 years’ experience at CMS Grau. Over this period she has supported aviation-sector clients on highly sensitive regulatory, operational and contentious matters, combining technical expertise with practical judgment to inform decision-making. Her experience spans aviation law as well as related areas that affect airline and operator operations and reputation, including administrative law, proceedings before public authorities and consumer protection applied to air transport.

Her practice includes structuring approaches to obtain operating and flight permits according to the type of operation; drafting and implementing agreements for aircraft leasing, aeronautical services and chartering; handling administrative and judicial claims arising from air transport; and responding to own-initiative proceedings by entities such as MIGRACIONES, OSITRAN and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. She also advises insurance companies specialising in aviation insurance on the Peruvian regulatory framework, supports clients in bilateral negotiations with Peruvian authorities, and advises public and private airports. Sandra participates in sector regulatory-improvement initiatives, including collaborative work with IATA, ALTA and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

CMS Grau’s Aviation practice is described as a multidisciplinary team with an integrated approach to regulation, transactions and operations at domestic and international levels. The core team comprises Sandra Chicoma, Miguel Mena and Tarek Mohanna, and coordinates closely with the Firm’s Competition practice and with CMS’s international network to provide cross-border and regulatory, contractual and operational advice to industry clients.
