Magliona Abogados appoints managing partners for data protection and digital regulation

Magliona Abogados has elevated Jessica Matus Arenas, Bárbara Reyes Espinoza and Matías Danús Gallegos to managing partner roles within its privacy, cybersecurity and digital regulation practice.

Jessica Matus Arenas is promoted to managing partner. She brings more than 20 years of experience in personal data protection and cybersecurity and has played an active role in designing and implementing public policies in Chile and Latin America. She has advised governments, international organizations and companies, serves on the Ministerial Advisory Commission for the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law (2025), was recognized among the 100 Leading Women 2024, co‑founded Fundación Datos Protegidos and Internet Society Chile, and lectures in postgraduate university programs.

Bárbara Reyes Espinoza is promoted to managing partner. Her practice focuses on new technologies law, privacy, cybersecurity, public policy and government relations. She joined Magliona Abogados in 2019 and has been recognised by The Legal 500 Latin America 2026 in TMT (Leading Associate) and by Best Lawyers 2026 in Technology Law and in Privacy and Data Security Law. She contributes to Chambers and Partners’ specialised guides and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Matías Danús Gallegos is promoted to managing partner. He has extensive experience in regulatory matters, telecommunications, audiovisual content, consumer law and competition law, and previously served as Head of Regulatory Affairs at VTR Comunicaciones. He has led complex proceedings before sector authorities, regulatory bodies and specialised courts, and his expertise addresses the intersection of data protection, regulated markets and regulatory compliance. He is also a member of the IAPP.

The firm says the combined public- and private-sector experience of the new managing partner team and their involvement in national and international regulatory and policy advocacy will help Magliona Abogados anticipate the challenges posed by the new Personal Data Protection Law and increasing regulatory scrutiny in Chile and the region.
