Hogan Lovells promotes Alessandro Borrello to partner as part of 28 global partner appointments
"Hogan Lovells names 28 new partners globally, including Milan litigator Alessandro Borrello; firm also advances 53 to counsel and expands its European partner bench, notably in litigation."
Alessandro Borrello has been elevated to partner. He is based in Milan and practices in the litigation area. His promotion is highlighted as reinforcing Hogan Lovells’ presence in Italy in contentious matters.
The promotions constitute the firm’s first partner round since it announced the proposed merger with US firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. For the third consecutive year Hogan Lovells has maintained a stable number of partner admissions, with women representing 46% of the new partners compared with 50% last year.
Regionally, Europe accounted for the largest share of promotions with 15 new partners, up from 12 the previous year. European partner promotions are distributed across London (five), Paris, Munich and Amsterdam (two each), and Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Milan and Madrid (one each).
In addition to partner appointments, Hogan Lovells promoted 53 lawyers to counsel, up from 47 in 2025. Among the newly appointed counsel are Martino Filippi, Giulio Piperno, Elisa Rossi and Fabrizio Grillo.
