Ropes & Gray hires Alessandro Capogrosso as partner in Milan

"Ropes & Gray hires Alessandro Capogrosso as partner in Milan to strengthen its corporate M&A, private equity and capital markets cross-border capabilities."

Alessandro Capogrosso is joining Ropes & Gray as a partner in the firm’s Milan office.

Capogrosso brings a consolidated career in capital markets, private equity and M&A. He is recognised for advising global financial sponsors, investment banks and financial institutions on private and public M&A—both domestic and cross-border—and on transactions including industrial aggregations, public tender and exchange offers, leveraged buy-outs, IPOs, public offerings and private placements of financial instruments. He joins Ropes & Gray to contribute to the development of the Italian team’s cross-border capabilities.

Capogrosso joins from PedersoliGattai, where he had arrived with the group of professionals that followed partner Carlo Montagna from BonelliErede. The announcement does not state his prior seniority at PedersoliGattai.

He will be based in Ropes & Gray’s Milan office, which opened in September 2025 to meet growing client demand for cross-border expertise, and will work alongside private equity partners Giorgia Lugli and Luca Maranetto. Ropes & Gray described his arrival as part of its European growth strategy; Julie Jones, the firm’s chair, said his deep experience in the Italian and European markets gives clients a strategic advantage. Cataldo Piccarreta, partner and co‑lead of European Private Equity Transactions, and Michael Beauvais, partner and Global Chair of Strategic Transactions, commented that Capogrosso’s reputation and experience will further strengthen the Milan team and the firm’s offering in Italy and across Europe.

Capogrosso said his move to Ropes & Gray is an important personal milestone and expressed his intention to contribute actively to the development of the firm’s European platform and the Milan office. PedersoliGattai managing partner Bruno Gattai thanked Capogrosso for his professional contribution to the firm and wished him well in the next phase of his career.
