John Englander joins Goodwin as Of Counsel in Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation

John Englander has joined Goodwin as Of Counsel in the firm’s Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation practice.

Justice Englander is returning to Goodwin after serving eight years on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, where he joined the bench in 2017 following his appointment by former Governor Charles Baker. He enters Goodwin as Of Counsel in the firm’s Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation practice.

Prior to his judicial service, Englander spent 30 years at Goodwin, where he became a partner and later co-chair of the firm’s Litigation department. Over the course of his career he maintained a broad litigation practice encompassing general commercial, class action, and intellectual property matters. From 2015 to 2017 he served as General Counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, overseeing all legal matters for both agencies. Englander earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and clerked for Judge Bailey Aldrich on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and for Justice William Rehnquist on the United States Supreme Court.
