Jones Day partner Margaret C. Gleason appointed U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania

Ms. Gleason has practiced with Jones Day in Pittsburgh for more than 19 years and is a partner in the firm. She developed a complex civil litigation practice, serving as trial counsel in federal and state court and in arbitration in high-stakes matters involving breach of contract, business torts, trade secrets, securities litigation, and class actions. She was part of the trial team that obtained a $125.7 million verdict in a post-closing adjustment dispute after a three-month trial. Ms. Gleason has maintained an active pro bono practice, including serving as lead trial counsel in a successful federal Hague Convention case, and she serves as the hiring partner for the Pittsburgh office.
Ms. Gleason has a long record of service to the federal court community: she is the court-appointed chair of the Local Rules Advisory Committee for the Western District of Pennsylvania, has served on the Third Circuit’s Lawyers Advisory Committee, and chaired a merit selection panel for the appointment of a U.S. Magistrate Judge. Before joining Jones Day, she clerked for the Honorable Joy Flowers Conti of the same court from 2005 to 2007. Ms. Gleason earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2005, studied at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar (earning a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and an M.Sc. in Economics for Development), and holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Saint Louis University.
