Travers Smith appoints Daniel Vowden as Partner in Competition practice

"Travers Smith hires Daniel Vowden as partner in its Competition practice to advise on UK and EU competition law, merger control, foreign investment and National Security and Investment Act matters."

Daniel Vowden is joining Travers Smith LLP as a partner in its Competition practice.

Daniel joins Travers Smith from Mayer Brown, where he was a Partner and Head of the UK Antitrust Practice. Recognised as an expert across the full spectrum of UK and EU competition law, he has acted on high-profile merger control matters, including numerous Phase II inquiries and cases requiring structural or behavioural remedies. He previously practised in Brussels as a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills and has extensive experience securing international regulatory approvals for strategically critical cross-border M&A. His practice focuses in particular on the UK’s National Security and Investment Act and on advising clients on increasingly complex foreign direct investment and national security rules.

Daniel’s transactional skills are complemented by experience in behavioural and advisory matters, including UK and EU cartel investigations. Most recently he acted on the CMA’s investigation into suspected bid rigging relating to the supply of construction services to UK schools, the first instance of the CMA probing publicly funded tender procedures. He will split his time between the London office and the recently opened Brussels office and will work closely with partner Ingrid Hodgskiss and Head of Competition Nigel Seay. He joins Travers Smith as a partner, having been a Partner and Head of the UK Antitrust Practice at Mayer Brown and previously a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills. Daniel is the latest strategic addition to the firm following the arrivals of funds partner Laura Houët, arbitration partner Andy Moody and employment partner Andrew Howard.
