Orrick Adds Financial Regulatory Partner Sumit Indwar in London

He will collaborate with Orrick’s market‑leading finance groups, including in the areas of collateralized loan obligations, asset‑backed lending, fintech and venture capital, providing full‑service regulatory advice.
Sumit has decades of experience advising on the regulatory issues that arise in connection with novel UK and cross‑border financial products and transactions. His practice encompasses the full lifecycle of financial services legal and regulatory matters, including licensing, ongoing conduct of business issues, regulatory change implementation, governance within financial institutions, payments and digital assets, the cross‑border sale of financial products, market misconduct and anti‑money laundering. He also frequently advises on the regulatory aspects of M&A, corporate finance and banking transactions.
Sumit joins Orrick from Kirkland & Ellis, where he was a partner. Prior to Kirkland, he was a partner at Linklaters, where he practiced for 20 years across London, Hong Kong and Singapore and served as head of its Hong Kong Financial Regulation Group for six years.
His clients include investment banks, asset and wealth managers, retail banks, fintechs and private equity and other fund sponsors.
