Clyde & Co strengthens energy transition and construction offering with hire of Suriya Ashok

Suriya Ashok has joined Clyde & Co as a Partner in its Energy, Projects & Construction practice, based in Bristol.

Suriya joins from Freeths LLP, where she built a specialist practice advising clients on the construction and delivery of renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar energy and wider energy transition infrastructure. She enters Clyde & Co at partner level.

Her experience ranges from mainstream infrastructure, construction and commercial development work to renewable energy (solar and battery storage) and waste projects. She acts for owner/operators and funders as well as utility companies and waste operators, providing advice on complex construction and engineering contracts, operations and maintenance contracts, appointments, and associated security documentation.

Recognised for her expertise in the rapidly evolving battery storage market, Suriya advises clients across the lifecycle of energy projects and is particularly known for supporting utility-scale battery projects throughout the UK and Europe. She also has specialist expertise in climate contracting and in helping clients embed sustainability and climate ambitions into contractual arrangements.
