TozziniFreire appoints Rubens Granja and Natássia Misae Ueno as partners in Life Sciences and Healthcare

Rubens Granja and Natássia Misae Ueno have joined TozziniFreire as partners in its Life Sciences and Healthcare practice in São Paulo. Rubens Granja will assume the role of head of the practice area, which the firm says is experiencing growth.

Rubens Granja joins TozziniFreire as a partner and head of the Life Sciences and Healthcare practice. He is recognized for his work before Brazil’s health and agriculture regulators ANVISA, ANS and MAPA and has more than 20 years of experience advising national and international companies on regulatory, contractual, contentious and strategic matters spanning human and animal health, biotechnology, food and agribusiness. Granja holds a law degree from the University of São Paulo (USP), a specialization in Civil Liability from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), a Master of Laws in Law, Science and Technology from Stanford University and a master’s and Ph.D. in Civil Law from USP. Between 2015 and 2019 he chaired the Brazilian Bar Association’s Sanitary Law Committee and he currently sits on the International Bar Association’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Law Committee.

Natássia Misae Ueno joins TozziniFreire as a partner in the Life Sciences and Healthcare practice. She focuses on regulatory matters and administrative litigation before ANVISA, ANS, MAPA and other health and agribusiness regulators, and on public bids and contracts across all levels of government. Ueno holds a law degree from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, a postgraduate degree in Administrative Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) and a master’s degree in Public Law from FGV-SP.

The two new partners join Victor Hugo Avallone, who is already a partner at the firm in the same area and whose practice has been expanding on the back of increasing regulatory complexity, technological advances and the digitalization of business.
