EY Abogados appoints Ignacio Grangel as partner for Public Law and Regulated Sectors

Grangel is a State Attorney on leave (Abogado del Estado en excedencia) with a career focused on the energy field. He holds a law degree from the University of Zaragoza and joined the State Attorneys’ Corps in 2004. As a State Attorney he appeared before nearly all jurisdictional bodies and in investment arbitration, including work before the Audiencia Nacional in regulated sectors such as energy, telecommunications and public procurement.
Between 2012 and 2015 he led the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Energy and subsequently served as director of Legal Advisory and deputy secretary general at Red Eléctrica from 2015 to 2017. He later acted as an independent director of Enagás, was a member of the Committee of Experts on Energy Transition Scenarios established by the Council of Ministers in July 2017, and chaired the Iberian Electricity Market Operator. In 2019 he joined a national law firm as partner in charge of the Public Law and Regulated Sectors department, advising on regulatory matters in the energy and telecommunications sectors, litigation and arbitration, and on acquisitions and disposals of energy assets for national and international clients.
