Jones Day adds Corporate partner Elizabeth Oberholzer to Munich office

"Elizabeth Oberholzer is joining Jones Day in Munich as a partner in the Corporate Practice, strengthening the firm's German M&A practice with a focus on cross-border M&A and carve-outs."

Elizabeth Oberholzer will join Jones Day as a partner in its Corporate Practice, based in the Munich office, effective September 7. Her appointment strengthens the firm’s German M&A practice.

Ms. Oberholzer focuses on advising on cross-border M&A transactions as well as complex carve-outs and spin-offs, particularly for U.S. clients. She has many years of experience advising corporate and private equity clients in the automotive, technology, and life sciences sectors and has practised in both New York and Germany. With her experience in cross-border transactions, she is regarded as a prominent advisor in transatlantic M&A in the German market.

Among the standout mandates of her career is her role as global lead advisor to the U.S. technology conglomerate 3M on the worldwide spin-off of its healthcare business into the newly founded Solventum (enterprise value of approximately $8.2 billion). That transaction involved the complete legal separation of the business across more than 90 jurisdictions and affected more than 20,000 employees worldwide. She has also advised Mars, Incorporated on several significant acquisitions.

At Jones Day, Ms. Oberholzer will join a global Corporate Practice that includes nearly 400 M&A attorneys across 16 countries. The team has advised on more than 3,000 transactions with a deal volume exceeding $1.5 trillion over the past five years. She has been recommended by The Best Lawyers in Germany in the M&A practice area since 2024 and was listed by JUVE in its "40 Under 40" category for corporate law, private equity, and M&A in 2025; she was also highlighted as an outstanding partner of the new generation in the context of JUVE’s 2025 Law Firm of the Year for M&A recognition, and her contribution to the 3M/Solventum spin-off was noted in JUVE’s 2024 Law Firm of the Year for Corporate Law award.
